SCCC 102 is the second portion of the Honors Introductory Biology sequence
and will cover whole organism biology of plants and animals, genetics, evolution
and ecology. The lecture (BIOL 102) and laboratory
(BIOL 102L) are separate courses and will be graded separately. This syllabus only covers BIOL 102. The lecture portion of the course will be team taught
by Drs. Hilbish (first half) and Helmuth (second half).
Grade evaluations will be made based upon best performance on four
exams. Each exam will consist of 100 points;
your exam with the lowest score will be given 1/2 of the weight of the
other three exams. You will be given 50 minutes
to complete each exam. The fourth exam will
be given during the scheduled 2 hour final examination period but you will
only have 50 minutes in which to complete the exam.
The fourth test is not a cumulative exam. The
grade scale is:
100-80% = A
70-80% = B
60-70% = C
50-60% = D
<50%
= F
Make
up examinations can be provided given medical or other emergency. Justification for make-up exams must be provided in
writing by the attending physician or other appropriate persons depending
upon the emergency.
