Confocal Microscopy, Biological Sciences and USC

Biology Confocal
The Department has a BioRad MRC 1024ES instrument equiped with an argon/krypton laser and a Coherent TiS multiphoton laser (5 watt Mira/Verdi), coupled with a Nikon TE300 inverted microscope. Purchased early 1998, this system continues to serve and has no associated user fee; users are expected to contribute to maintainance as needed.

University Confocals
Microscopes are also available for general use from the USC School of Medicine Instrumentation Resource Faility (BioRad MRC 1024, Zeiss LSM 510 META), and from the School of Public Health Environmental Genomics Facility (Leica TCS SP5 Confocal Microscope, Bruker Senterra Dispersive Raman Microscope). These resourses are available for a fee, posted on their web sites.
