Effects of Radiation on Evolutionary Change

USC Biology Professor Tim Mousseau
and Dr. Anders Møller (Université Paris-Sud) are studying the effects of nuclear contamination on birds over multiple generations in the wild.  Measurements of various aspects of the birds are compared, such as body morphology and mass (above left, a shrike is being weighed) and sperm number and motility (above right).  See Dr. Mousseau's web site for more information (HERE), or video about this work on "Naked Science" (National Geo).

Mousseau and Møller have also been involved in similar studies near the Fukishima power plant in Japan; for more informaiton on these studies, click HERE.
