FACULTY POSITION: CANCER BIOLOGY - PHYSIOLOGY, DEVLOPMENT (posted 4/11/08)

    The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the broad area of the Biology of Cancer. Particular interest will be applied to individuals using animal models to further our understanding of the physiological mechanisms of cancer development and progression at the molecular, cellular, histological, or organismal level. This position is part of a hiring initiative in the area of Cancer Biology and the successful candidate will interact with a growing research group within USCÕs Center for Colon Cancer Research [http://cccr.sc.edu/]. Additional hires at both the junior and senior level are anticipated in this area over the next several years, both within the Department of Biological Sciences and in other departments. Candidates should have a PhD, along with post-doctoral experience, in an appropriate area of biomedical science. The successful individual will be expected to establish an independent, extramurally funded research program. In addition, he/she will be responsible for teaching an Undergraduate course in General Physiology, and an Undergraduate or Graduate course appropriate to his/her research area.
