HER2 over expression results in more aggressive and metastatic cancer phenotype. HER2 contains tyrosin kinase receptor activity and its activation controls the expression of the proteins involved in cell survival and proliferation. MicroRNAs (miRNA) are small non coding RNAs which controls gene expression by controlling mRNA stability. Our lab focuses on HER2 dyregulated microRNAs and their role in tumorigenesis. My current research focuses on investigating role of our candidate tumor suppresor miRNA in breast cancer.
