Mammalian Genetics and Speciation

Although I have retired from active service on the faculty, I remain involved as a consultant and/or co-investigator associated with the research programs conducted by the Peromyscus Genetic Stock Center. My long-time interests center on genetics of speciation in mammals, using mice of the genus Peromyscus as experimental organisms. My reseach program has now been encompassed in the mission of the Peromyscus Stock Center under the direction of Dr. Michael J. Dewey. I am willing to serve as an ad hoc member of graduate student advisory committees where appropriate and when my expertise and experience may be relevant.

I am particularly interested in the genetics of experimental interspecific hybridization as providing insight into speciation processes. I also have a long-time interest in development of a medium density genetic linkage map for Peromyscus.

I serve as editor of PEROMYSCUS NEWSLETTER and as a data coordinator for PeroBase, the on-line database for Peromyscus.
