Student Life Located in center of Columbia , USC offers a community of young people, centered around local clusters of culture such asFive Points and the Vista , that allows a fuller graduate experience for students. Columbia itself is two short hours from the beach and just an hour and a half from the Appalachain Mountains. Student Group About 35 graduate students are currently enrolled in the Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental track in the Department of Biological Sciences. The total student body in the Department also includes students in the Botany and Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology tracks and averages between 65-70. Applying Application forms for admission are available from the Department. Scores on the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination, academic transcripts, at least two letters of reference, and a statement of purpose indicating the applicantıs specific research interests are also required. Completed applications should be submitted before February 15 to ensure consideration for teaching and research assistantships, although applications will be considered after this date.
