Bob Sanders


 
    The Robert Sanders Memorial Best Student Paper Award is given to the student who gives the overall best presentation of their work at the GABS Graduate Student Research Symposium.  This award recognizes a student for acheivement in being able to convey their science to an audience of their peers from a variety of biological fields and related programs.  Robert Sanders received his MS from the Department of Biological Sciences at USC in 1990 and was a Ph.D. student at USC from 1993 until his untimely death on Jan. 14, 2003.  "Bob" was consistently involved in GABS events like the Graduate Research Symposium and held multiple positions in GABS throughout his graduate career including President and Faculty Liason.  Bob was a well respected teacher and received numerous TA awards. He was also an active proponent of student involvement in all aspects of the department and always made it a point to encourage new students to get involved in GABS.  Most of all, Bob will be remembered as a fun-loving person with a willingness to talk and always ready with a smile.
